America is reeling from yet another mass school shooting, this time in Uvalde, Texas. Both political parties have offered their solutions: the left demands tighter gun control and the ban of assault rifles, while the right calls for increased school security, social media surveillance and an early-warning system created by red flag laws. Neither solution addresses the real question. What in our culture has changed to cause such an increase of beastly violence in American young men? Is this a question over a choice of weapon or does it point to a deeper problem inherent in human nature?

It never ceases to amaze me how Christians can all sit around and lament the current state of the culture, family, and church. Yet, whenever someone suggests valid alternatives to how they’ve always done things, they rush to take refuge behind ”orthodoxy” and “tradition”—arguably the very sources of the systemic failure they decry.
